365 Characters
On December 31, 2025, I made a New Year’s resolution to commit to a new habit for the next 365 days: drawing at least one character per day.
The task
The goal is to sit down at least once a day and start drawing a character. There are no restrictions on style, medium, or complexity. The drawing should represent, in some form or shape, a character in any stretch of the imagination. Every drawing will be posted daily on my social media channels.
Why I decided to commit to this challenge
I strongly believe that we are far more capable of learning new skills if we simply stick to consistent practice. Over time, I’ve learned that in order to develop a new habit, I need to commit to showing up regularly—even if it’s just the smallest amount of work. Showing up every day is the biggest challenge, and also the key to continuous improvement.
By drawing a character every day—even if it’s just a stick figure—I want to maintain a regular drawing practice and create a routine that helps me improve my drawing skills. At the same time, I hope this process will rewire my thinking, making it easier to come up with new ideas when I need to.
Posting daily on social media is another challenge within the challenge. Throughout my history with social media, I’ve realized that I can get easily hooked and start looking for approval for every piece of work I share. With this drawing resolution, I want to challenge myself to take control of my social media habits and reduce direct interaction with the platforms by using new social media management tools. That doesn’t mean I want to disappear, though. I genuinely enjoy interacting with like-minded people, so I’ll definitely respond to comments—don’t be shy and reach out.
By putting the act of drawing every day first—and not focusing too much on the outcome—I hope to create some distance from my work and shift my attention toward personal growth and long-term development.
